Riding Tales of José Soriano
SOUKE Ride Memoir
I’ve always been a loner, and cycling was no different. From the very beginning, it was about the ride, the rhythm, and the sheer efficiency of movement. Fitness came first—no distractions,
no wasted time. Every pedal stroke had a purpose, and I wasn’t interested in anything that might slow me down. Talking while riding? That seemed unnecessary. Why spend energy on
conversation when I could be using it to push myself harder and go farther?
There was something meditative about riding alone, just me and the open road. I loved the steady cadence of my breath, the whir of my tires on the pavement, and the burning sensation in my legs as I pushed past my limits.
The silence wasn’t loneliness—it was focus. It was freedom. Out there, I didn’t have to keep pace with anyone but myself. No waiting, no compromising, just the pure pursuit of progress. Every ride was a challenge, and I thrived on that feeling.
Then, something changed. Over time, I started encountering other cyclists who shared my rhythm. They weren’t just casual riders; they understood the discipline, the dedication, the hunger for improvement. They rode with intent, the same way I did. At first, I kept my distance, unsure if group riding was for me. But as I found myself side by side with them more often, I realized something unexpected—these cyclists weren’t slowing me down. If anything, they were pushing me to be better.
It wasn’t just about competition; it was about camaraderie. We didn’t need to talk much—just a glance, a nod, a knowing smile when we reached the top of a brutal climb. The shared struggle spoke louder than words. And every now and then, when the road eased up and the wind was at our backs, the quick bursts of laughter, the exchange of stories, and the moments of connection made the effort feel even more rewarding. It was still about the ride, but now there was an added layer to it—one that made it even more meaningful.
As I embraced this new way of riding, I also discovered a brand that matched my evolving mindset—SOUKE. Their gear wasn’t just about looking good; it was engineered for performance, designed for cyclists who understood the balance of precision, comfort, and endurance. The moment I put on SOUKE’s apparel, I felt the difference. The precision fit, the breathable fabrics, the aerodynamic feel—it all worked in harmony with my body, allowing me to push harder without distraction. There was no pinching, no chafing, no discomfort—just pure focus on the ride ahead. When every detail is dialed in, the ride becomes even smoother, and the effort feels effortless.
With the right gear and the right company, I found a new rhythm—one that still prioritized performance but made space for something more. I still keep conversations brief; that part of me hasn’t changed. But I’ve learned to appreciate the small moments
of connection along the way. A shared joke at a rest stop, a knowing glance when we conquer a tough climb, the mutual respect that comes from riding together—it all adds to the experience.
Cycling is still my discipline, my challenge, my passion. But now, it’s also something more. And that, I’ve learned, makes every ride worth it.
