*Disclosure: I received these bib shorts through the SOUKE Cycling Tester Program. The opinions below are based entirely on my experience using them.*
I am an amateur road and gravel cyclist based in New York City. I normally ride around six times per week, combining shorter weekday rides of approximately 30 km with a longer weekend ride that is often around 150 km—and occasionally longer. I am not a professional or elite rider, but I spend many hours on the bike and care about having equipment that performs well, particularly bib shorts. Poorly fitting or uncomfortable bibs can quickly spoil a long ride.
Before trying SOUKE, I primarily wore bib shorts from established Western brands such as Rapha and Assos. I recently became interested in exploring alternatives from other manufacturers, and several positive comments about SOUKE Cycling caught my attention. When I saw the opportunity to test the company’s Performance Bib Shorts, I decided to apply.
Sizing and fit
I selected a size small, which is also the size I normally wear in most Western cycling brands. For reference, I am approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall (163 cm) and weigh between 131 and 134 pounds (59–61 kg). The SOUKE bib shorts fit me as expected: snug and supportive without feeling excessively tight or restrictive.
The fabric wraps evenly around my legs and body, rather than creating pressure in one particular area. The compression feels appropriate for performance-oriented bib shorts, but it does not interfere with my movement on or off the bike. I also like the fit around the upper body. The straps are soft, comfortable, and appear to use material similar to the main body of the shorts. As a result, the upper section feels less like a traditional set of suspenders and more like a natural extension of the shorts. I did not experience uncomfortable pulling or noticeable pressure from the straps.
Fabric and overall comfort
The leg fabric feels smooth and pleasant against the skin. Its snug, close-fitting construction reminds me somewhat of the feeling I get from my Assos bib shorts. The material also has a streamlined, performance-oriented appearance that gives me the impression that it may have some aerodynamic qualities. That is only a subjective impression—I did not conduct any aerodynamic testing—but the fabric sits cleanly against the legs without loose or flapping sections.
The balance between stretch and compression is one of the strongest aspects of these bib shorts. They feel supportive without making me feel constrained. During my rides, I did not experience chafing, irritation, or localized pressure points.
Breathability was also satisfactory during the late-summer conditions in New York. I was fortunate to test the bib shorts during mostly good weather, so I cannot comment on how the fabric or chamois performs when completely wet or during a long ride in the rain. That remains an area I would need to test separately.
Long-distance performance
I have now ridden approximately 400 km in these bib shorts. This included several rides ranging from about 30 to 100 km and one ride of approximately 200 km. The 200 km ride was the most important test because it involved many hours in the saddle and gave me a much better sense of the long-distance comfort of the chamois.
The chamois remained comfortable throughout that ride. Its thickness and support feel comparable to the performance models I have used from established Western brands. It provided sufficient cushioning without feeling unnecessarily bulky, and it remained stable rather than moving around while I changed position on the bike. I did not experience chafing or any specific pressure point caused by the chamois.
Most importantly, I never found myself wishing that I had chosen SOUKE’s Endurance model instead. The Performance bib shorts continued to feel appropriate even during my longest ride.
Because I was testing the product, I made a deliberate effort to pay attention to the bib shorts throughout each ride. Normally, I do not consciously think about my clothing unless something feels uncomfortable. In that sense, one of the best compliments I can give these bib shorts is that they mostly disappeared beneath me: they stayed in place, remained comfortable, and allowed me to focus on riding.
After approximately 400 km, they still look to be in good condition, with little visible evidence of wear. This is encouraging, although 400 km is not enough to make a definitive judgment about their long-term durability.
Overall assessment
My experience with the SOUKE Performance Bib Shorts has been very positive. The sizing was consistent with what I normally wear, the fabric provided a comfortable and supportive fit, and the chamois performed well even during a 200 km ride. Based on my experience so far, I would recommend these bib shorts to cyclists looking for a performance-oriented option that can also remain comfortable over long distances.
I am interested in continuing to use them to evaluate their long-term durability and performance in different weather conditions. My experience has also made me curious to try other SOUKE products, particularly the company’s jerseys and cargo bib shorts.
